Our 1997 VW passat needs some repair work done and I haven't found any one local who is brilliant with
Volks wagons, reliable and honest. Any suggestions?
We need a to replace our water pump!

Just dont go to DCH on Millburn they are always late, overpriced and (in my opinion), their work stinks. Try Euromotive (right next door) or Toomey's on Baker.

I've had exactly the opposite experience of Ukealalio. I've found the service department at DCH to be prompt, reliable and friendly.

Just last week they came to rescue me on Valley with a nasty flat tire - they were there in 10 minutes. They drove me home, called to tell me when my car would be ready and offered to come pick me up.

I haven't had many problems but every time I take it there for service I've been very happy.

elz, is your car under warrantee ?. When my Passat was, they were fine, the minute it went off they were horrible.

Then again, there were many posts with my sentiment a few months ago, maybe they heard about them and got their act together.

Changing a water pump doesn't require special brand knowledge. When you neeed a brand specialist is when you have a problem that is hard to diagnose.

Uke's suggestions are good ones. We have dealt at Toomey's for years and work has always been done correctly, on time and at a fair price.

Euromotive, next to DCH. Nicky is an ex-VW mechanic. Smart. Fair. Hippie. Gotta love him.

We always took our Jetta to Dave at Nelson's. We were always satisfied with the work, and it's convenient if you have only one car. His daughter has a Jetta, I believe. Unfortunately, I recently totalled my car immediately after I picked it up from Nelson's, having just paid $475 to have it repaired. As I was standing on the side of the GSP (shaking from head to toe and just feeling lucky my girls were okay) I had to laugh about the timing. So, if anyone sees Dave, just tell him I won't be in for awhile as I have a brand-new car that's under warranty!!
