All activities at: Morrow Memorial Methodist Church Ridgewood Rd. at Baker St. Maplewood Partial funding for this event is provided by a grant from New Jersey Department of State, Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative Commission and by a grant from the Outreach Committee of St. George's Episcopal Church in Maplewood. About our speaker: Paula Tumayshu Dow, of Maplewood, currently serves as acting Essex County Prosecutor, subject to senate confirmation. For the past nine years, Dow has worked in the United States Attorney’s Office-District of New Jersey. She was a Counsel to the U.S. Attorney and has previously worked in the Special Prosecutions Division and the Criminal Division. Dow also worked in the United States Attorney’s Office-Southern District of New York from 1987 to 1994, where she worked in the Civil Division. Before entering government, Dow worked for Exxon Company from 1980 to 1987 in Texas, New Jersey and New York, where she advised clients on environmental and labor matters. She began her legal career with Tomar, Parks, Seliger, Simonoff & Adourian in Camden in 1978 as a summer associate. Dow earned her B.A. from Franklin and Marshall College in 1977, and her J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1980. She has been admitted to the Bars of New Jersey, New York and Texas; United States Supreme Court; Second and Fifth Circuit Courts of Appeals; United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, District of New Jersey, and Northern and Southern Districts of Texas. Dow is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association, where she is Co-Chair of the Judicial Administration Committee and serves on the Minorities in the Profession Section. She is also a member of the Association of Black Women Lawyers of New Jersey Inc., and the New Jersey U.S. Attorney Liaison for Orange and Newark Weed and Seed programs. Dow is also a member of St. Paul Baptist Church in Montclair.
