I am planning a nice simple bowling party for our 6yr old. Does anyone have any feedback on how this worked out for them? Any suggestions as to how many kids? The bowling party comes with an hour of bowling. Is this too long? Thanks in advance for any advice |

I would suggest limiting the number of children to 2-4 (including your son). That way they will all be able to bowl on the same lane and you'll save A LOT of money. another cost saving idea for you: I would also suggest forgoing the "goody bag". Give all of the kids an orange on their way home. They'll be just as happy. By the way, is it true that your husband once bowled a 223? That's amazing! |

Gemini: glad things worked out, kids do love bowling. Brinckie: An orange? Just as happy? What kids are these? I'm not saying you have to give out a ton of crap and candy in a bag, I don't do that myself, but an orange? A simple 8-pack of crayons, yes, a 99 cent pencil case with their name on it in paint pen, yes, but an orange? |

an orange? in the car? can you imagine a bunch of 4 year olds trying to get their oranges peeled, and the peel everywhere. How about when they throw the oranges at the driver (who didn't supply goody bags) and then the oranges get jammed under the brake pedal and the mother comes flying down eagle rock avenue unable to brake and crashes into Pal's Cabin in a fiery explosion. I don't do candy in goody bags -- but I do do some goodies! |

We have had many bowling parties at Madison Lanes, all the kids had fun, you certainly should not limit the party to 2-4, let your kids invite their friends, it's his Birthday. Madison lanes will give you lanes next to each other depending on the amount of kids. Oranges???? your kidding right |

My daughter just went to another kid's 3 year old bday party. When she got the adorable themed "favor box" she immediately looked for candy and when she didn't find any insisted that there should be some in there.

Wendy -- that happened to me! I had a very small party for my son's 4th -- just 4 friends and I went all out (at least I thought I did) and got all this cool goody bag stuff -- magnifying glasses and magic tricks -- some neat stuff. One little boy was so upset about not getting any candy -- I was horrified. |

My daughter went to bowling parties at that age, and loved them. Especially cool was when they had that ... black light? ... effect? Some kinda near dark in the alley, where the balls and the kids shirts and things lit up. Anyone know what this is? Sometimes I think it gets called "cosmic bowling?" |

Chelsea Piers has Extreme Bowling which looks sort of fun ... http://www.chelseapiers.com/amfextreme.htm We've never bowled there but have drank at their bowling alley bar (why? I don't recall). Very cool place though. |

Duncan, no problem. She loved the box and toys, but practially the only time she gets candy is from a party so it is the first thing she looks for. We are debating whether to give candy as favors for her party... |

Eagle Rock lanes has the disco/laser light bowling for kids parties and it offers "bumpers" so there are no gutter balls. My suggestion with kids in this age group would be to have an adult for every lane to facilitate who goes next and make sure there are no squished fingers at the ball retrieve. PS: Oranges?? |

Perhaps I was off base when I suggested an orange. I guess the kids of today are partial to more exotic fruits. What about a papaya?
