McNabb ran 107 yards against Green Bay -- an NFL postseason record for quarterbacks. Big deal!
Yawn. boring.

He was awesome on Sunday, and he rushed for those 107 yards despite being sacked 8 times! I'm a staunch NYG fan, so cannot in any manner root for the Iggles, but I must admit he reminds me of a bigger, tougher Randall Cunningham (hated him!!!!).

he didn't really rush for 107 yards. he was credited with extra yards by a liberal scorekeeper who's desirous that a black quarterback do well.

Do I detect a hint of sour grapes? Here's the story.

http://www.superbowl.com/gamecenter/live/NFL_20040111_GB@PHI

They might've been gifted a few yards on the 4th & 26, but Mitchell was clearly beyond the sticks when he caught the pass. It's too bad Favre threw that INT, but please don't believe that Philadelphia didn't earn that win honestly.

That is so my name. And not a drug reference. and not "The MP". Like a little town/village in Long Island. Plus my first initial.

I bet Rush could have gone for 108 yards back in his heyday.

Rush could have floated downfield 108 yards most mornings--love those little blue pills! Speaking of names, his mother seemed to be prescient.

Actually, it probably could only help the Rush-man with his P.R. (the pending legal hot water) if he revised his opinion of McNabb.
But I forget- folks like that are just never wrong.

if I'm not mistaken, Rush's spin is that his comments actually motivated McNabb to improve his performance.

Have you heard that the ACLU is helping Rush in his efforts to keep his medical records sealed?

What a wacky bunch of left-wingers THEY turned out to be!

How is it whacky support people against unnecessary government intervention in their lives? I would think you would applaud the ACLU for being consistent with their values regardless of the political views of the person being attacked by the government}. Or is your own political filter blinding you}?

"It may seem odd that the ACLU has come to the defense of Rush Limbaugh," ACLU of Florida Executive Director Howard Simon said in a statement. "But we have always said that the ACLU's real client is the Bill of Rights and we will continue to safeguard the values of equality, fairness and privacy for everyone, regardless of race, economic status or political point of view."

Right. haven't ever heard a broadcast where he lights into the ACLU with a "my friends, these people...", but hard to believe he hasn't dumped on them before.

Actually McNabb has used all of his detractors as motivation this season; Rush-man hasn't been the only one to make a wrong-headed statement about his ability.

I never saw McNabb say "Rush made me better".
Correct me please.

It was nice to just enjoy watching some great football games this weekend. Anything Rush or any other blowhard had to say during the season really doesn't matter during the playoffs.

McNabb didn't say "Rush made me better." He said that Rush's and other comments (they're the "boos" this premiere quarterback receives in his home stadium) were a source of motivation for him, not that they made him play better. Also, he joked somewhere that Rush should be his PR or marketing manager from all the attention he's gotten.

ok- that's basically what I stated.

He's used it all- and used it well.
Not that he had anything to prove before Rush-man's ESPN-gate and the moronic detractors in he stands.

Only thing missing from the games yet to play will be the Packers!

getting booed in your home statdium Philly doesn't really mean anything, but whatever McNabb uses for motivation seems to be working.

that's the city where they used to boo Mike Schmidt -- I guess his being the best 3rd baseman in the league wasn't enough for them.

I think the real reason that McNabb has had such a good season is due to all that Campbell's Chunky Soup he has been eating. Do you see how huge he looks in those commercials...each one seems to build muscle tone and increase his quickness on the field. 107 yards...owed all to Chunky Soup.

McNabb's QB rating was 16th. in the league--he had better seasons in 01 and 02.

Once again Rush gets it right. McNabb ain't Elway, nor is he Montana or Steve Young or Marino or for that matter Phil Simms.

Heck, I'd take Tom Brady over that pile of lost yardage any day of the week.

Overrated overrated overrated.

Give the poor guy a break -- he took some terrible licks yesterday. He'll need most of the offseason just to recover from the hurtin' put on by Carolina. As for overrated, how about picking on Manning? The Pats sure did - 4 times!

The Pats are in a league by themselves Defensively. Shades of the 85 Bears??? Probably not, but I'm not sure any QB including the greats could hurt those guys the way they're playing.

On the other hand, watch Brady rip the Panthers apart in 2 weeks.

Phil Simms is the NY Giants' statistical leader in virtually every QB category. Considering some of the guys who've played for them (Tarkenton, Tittle, Conerly), that's saying something.

And he played the first half of his career for some pitiful teams.

I'd trade Phil Simms in his prime straight up for any QB in football today, with the exception of Manning.

guy plays two quarters of NFL football with torn cartilage in his ribs, and you say he's not <gasp> Joe Montana. Hey, neither are 6 billion other people. You'd be hurting drawing two breaths with torn rib cartilage, and even healthy you won't last two plays in the NFL.

Perfect sport for Republicans. Eat the injured, go to the refs for a holding call when things are tight.

tom it is truly amazing that you find it necessary to bring politics into each and every thread.

I also believe that if it is canabalism you seek, look no further than the Iowa caucuses being held today. If that still isn't enough for you next Tuesday visit New Hampshire.

As for the caliber of McNabb's play yesterday; he got injured. In retrospect, his team should have replaced him sooner. Philadelphia had a strong season, they will be back.

Rating quarterbacks is difficult, especially now that offenses are more pass oriented than in earlier eras. In particular, there are a lot more short passes being thrown. In addition the percentage of passing plays has increased dramatically. As for me, I always admired Don Merideth and of course Roger "The Dodger."

All quarterbacks are overrated. When you can throw a screen pass behind the line of scrimmage and the receiver runs for eighty yards and you get credit for an eighty yard pass, that's overrated.
