With the Republicans salivating at the thought of a Dean nomination, it looks like the celebration may be premature. The latest polls have Kerry & Gephardt making it a close race in Iowa and Clark making it a close race in New Hampshire. My prediction is that the headline after Iowa will be either a surprise win by Kerry or a very strong finish. The headline after New Hampshire will be a surprise win by Clark. Also, I think after the next big round of primaries in early Feb, only Clark, Dean, Kerry, Edwards & Leiberman will remain in the race and by the end it will come down to Dean & Clark with Clark ultimately getting the nomination. Just a prediction, but I don't think it's even close to being "over" Flame on.... |

You're right about it not being over. It's kind of interesting, actually. Right-wing commentators, in an effort to make fun of the Democratic party, state that having so many candidates is somehow a bad thing. To the contrary, when you can look at the leading candidates, and realize that any one of them would be preferable to the current holder of the office, that shows some real strength. Now, if only they can finish the primary season without completely tearing each other apart! |

MHD, I posted similiar sentiments yesterday. I agree. I am not sure Clark will be the nominee, but I think it is better than even money that Dean will not be. |

Bob K: I agree--it ain't over 'til the votes are counted, although Dean having all the money and endorsements is going to make it hard to derail him (as McCain found with Bush). As I said elsewhere, I think Edwards has an outside shot at being the next Clinton. Young (looking), southern roots, not a lot of DC baggage, excellent performer on stage. Now, if only he can keep his hands off of interns...... |
