I am looking for an accountant who can handle both my business and personal taxes. Someone local would be great...used to dealing with small businesses...patient, kind, and not too expensive. Any thoughts? My goals are a. to pay as little as legally and ethically possible, b. to pay the rest in a humane, i.e. gradual way, and c. not to be yelled at about the state of my records. Is this an impossible dream? Sincerely yours, Mystified in Maplewood PS Privateline recommendations are most welcome. |

I have an accountant who fits that description. I hadn't filed my taxes for three years, due to various emotional and logistical reasons, some good and some bad. This guy never passed judgement and dealt with my poor recordkeeping calmly, with everything in stride. He was practically like a therapist. He's a very nice guy. I don't know what you mean by local, though. He's in Rahway, so he's not in the neighborhood, but it's not that hard to reach him, either. Oh, and the amount he charges me is obscenely low. And he's a CPA! Jack Adams, Jr 1126 Milton Blvd Rahway, NJ 07065-1721 732-574-2045 jfajr@verizon.net If you contact him, please mention my name, but don't tell him he charges too little. I ended up getting huge refunds for those years filed late. Of course, I would have been richer if I had filed on time, but at least the news wasn't as bad as I had feared.

Contact Marco DeLuca. His office is on Ridgwood at the Washington Park retail area. He is super. Never be afraid to try something new. Remember, amateurs built the ark; professionals built the Titanic.
