Are the lawyers just protecting the interests of their clients by filing this petition or are they covering their own precious little butts in the event that a few years down the line they have to stand trial themselves for "obeying an unlawful order"?

I'm a pretty cynical guy but I think this is actually a pretty courageous move by the military lawyers. I don't think they would have any reason to worry about getting in trouble if they just went with the program and real reason to worry about their careers now. My hat is off to them. |

Ashear, I tend to agree. However during the Boar War a bunch of Aussies used prisoners to protect trains from being blown up. At the end of the war they were court martialed, convicted and executed. My point was that times and viewpoints change.
