I have lovely old garage doors that unfortunately do no open or close very easily. Does anyone know of someone who installs new garage doors and also what the cost might be for two new automatic doors and installation? |

For under $200 each, labor, plus the cost of the units, also, just under $200 each; Home Depot will install them. Never be afraid to try something new. Remember, amateurs built the ark; professionals built the Titanic. |

I recently replaced two 4-section, 4-panel overhead doors on my garage. The doors were around $325 each and labor was about the same. Additionally, I needed some repair work on the jams which was another $200. Total was about $1500. The exact price depends on the size of the opening and the style and quality door you choose. I got basic wood doors because that's what was there and I don't really like the the steel doors, but they may be a bit less expensive (though labor would be the same). You can also go high end and get overhead doors that look like carriage doors, but those run around $2k+ each including installation. Also, if you currently have carriage style doors that swing open and are converting to overhead doors there will be some cost to modify the jams. I got mine through Home Depot and it was a nightmare. You may want to try Jaeger Lumber in Union. The doors were made by Clopay and installed by Buy Rite. |

I don't know what he will cost, but the guy who did mine is Danny .... Danny's doors ... fast very clean good work .... Don't have his number, but it is pasted to the inside of my garage ... (but I'm not going out there today if I can avoid it.) Also, had a problem and called him (early on) and he walked me right through what was wrong and how to correct it on the spot. Oh...I didn't include openers. I got 1/2 hp screw drive units from Sears on sale for $169 each. Chain drive units are something like $129. I installed them so I don't know what the installation cost would be, but it's a pretty straight forward process. |

Oh, and I'll add this ... like gj1 ... I got an opener on special purchase or the like at sears and Danny had NO ISSUES at all with installing it for me when he put in the door. Neen, Are you selling your old doors? I'd be interesting in buying a pair of old ones in good condition.
