Can anyone recommend a plumber to snake a drain?

If you can get one of those flexible, extendable snakes, try that first. If not, (or it doesn't help the clog) you can call quite a few. We've used CT Williams in the past, but I've also heard good things about Corragio and of course Gateway—"Master Plvmber" is always posting help on MOL.

I've used both Gateway and CT Williams and they are great plumbers but for a clogged drain I think it's cheaper and easier to get one of the sewer and drain companies. We used All Clear (from the yellow pages) when our sewer line clogged last year. These guys tend to work 24 hours and are pretty easy to schedule.

I've never benn able to get a snake to work for me but the big plungers with the accordian ends have worked on some tough clogs (and less risk to your pipes). One key thing is to make sure that the overlow drain (if its a sink or tub) is really well pluged and then really put some elbow greas into plunging repeatedly. Before I doscovered this I did use RotoRooter once and they were quick and relatively cheap.

Just a drain clog call Roto -rooter , or go to HD buy a drum snake that attaches to a drill , about $19.00 , thats what they are going to use anyway. No tool has made more money for plumbers then a drum snake.

My shower drain got clogged a lot. Once we had it snaked, but I didn't want to spend a lot of money again, so the next time I bought something at Home Depot called Zep 10 minute hair de-clogger. Worked when Liquid Plumr, etc did not. Then I put a hair trap in the drain and haven't had another problem. If hair is your culprit, I recommend this.

Call me crazy, but when I get a brain clog, a shot of whiskey often helps.

Thanks! Went to Roto Rooter, and they were great, but overpriced. I called and they said they could be at my house in 2 hours. They showed up and were very professional. But, $220.00, I thought that was a little much!
