Thinking about ordering trays of lasagne & meatballs from Village Trattoria for a family party...we do not normally eat there...can anybody provide a recommendation for them?

They cater all my parties if I don't feel like cooking and will even make a last minute tray of something when I have drop-ins. The only downside is that they don't deliver - when you pick up the food they will provide the stands, trays and sterno cans that you will have to return to them. I've never ordered the items you mention, but I've never been disappointed with anything I've gotten from Angelo, so I'm sure that they're good.

I love their food, it's my fave place in Maplewood to go out and eat! Their shrimp scampi and chicken murphy are my faves! My partners faves are the veg. lasagna, and the baked ziti!

Food is good but the meatballs suck.

Reservior has the best meatballs around. Their stuffed shells are pretty good too.

Thanks, shh....this place has been pretty boring lately. I'm not into politics so it doesn't leave me much choice.

We did use Village Trattoria - ended up with Lasagne & Chicken Marsala. Both dishes were pretty tastey. Plus I had a 10% off coupon. I would use them again! Plus they gave me enough bread for all my guests.

Resevoir is the best for catering. I don't think the Trattoria can even compare. I have tried a lot of places (including Trattoria), but Resevoir is definitely the best and give you the most for your money. I always have a lot left over and the relatives battle each other for some take home! You might want to try their famous "tony salad" which is an unbelievable antipasto. And tupperjo is right, their stuffed shells are amazing. Yumm....I might have to pick up some dinner tonight! Prices are reasonable as well. 973-762-9795. Good Luck!

DePietro's is worth checking out if you have not been in. Great Meatballs (in gravy according to the label). They make their own sausage which is also great. They have lots of homemade pastas, they make their own mini pizzas and dough if you want to do it yourself and great sandwiches. Its family run and Mrs. DiPeitro is a neighbor of mine. Great place and great people.

Make a trip to DePietro's just for the aroma in the store alone. Their olives are the best. Excellent in martinis. Manga!

DePietro's is the BEST if you're looking for local Italian Deli - hand twisted fresh mozzarella, home-made manicotti, and their homemade hot and sweet sausages YUM! Time to fire up the grill!

Definitely DePietros!!! A great family owned establishment. Everything is homemade! The raviolis rock.
