I didn't notice the words in mhd's pic either. Cowboy, why don't you just relax for a little while... get some exercise, take a nap, maybe work on your spelling a bit... and come back when you're feeling better?

Yes, it was rude of me. How thoughtless of me to respond in such a manner when I too have been the subject of similar mocking insults. All of this has occurred while I have simply pointed out the obvious truth of inconsistencies here on MOL.

Having been told to:

1.)”get a life,”
2.)” hang up your spurs & 6-gun”
3.)“grow up” and “Enough with the martyr crap already” and “go swim somewhere else”.

It has also been suggested to define myself using a picture that has:

1.) “a gun, a factory belching pollution, people living in poverty, or Donald Trump sitting on his yacht.” And this one comes from a source who has directly benefited from abusing the same rule as I while simultaneously contending to be simply defining themself as being "pro-environment".

So instead let me wish that your trust fund values appreciate and grow, and that you find gainful employment pursuing valuable work with children. The latter being a good choice since you can very easily relate to them.

"Save the environment, Plant a Bush back in Texas". Nahh... that's not political in the least.

Cowboy: Just make sure your next picture has small print and a pretty design.

Cowboy,
Lol!
Who are the trust fund babies around here? I didn't realize they could be bothered using a computer, much less know how to read.

I guess my picture may offend people that have to stay "on the wagon", can't drink, or are alcoholics. Am I politically incorrect?

Mr. Cowboy,
I'm sorry you took this sentence seriously:

quote:

I guess if you're looking that closely at other people's profile pictures, maybe you ought to think about getting yourself a life.

Didn't you see the littly winky-thing?

And I was one of the people on your side.

I'd tell you to lighten up, but I'm afraid you'd consider that a personal attack, so I won't.

I have got a Jesus loving cartoon character dressed as the devil -- that's gotta offend.

Maybe it's hard to tell that Ned is dressed as Satan in my little picture -- but he is.

If it is alright with you Dave, no thank you. I don't feel much like changing my picture, especially right now. I have become attached to it. In fact there is a profound comfort in seeing "political pictures are not for personal attacks," posted beneath my name. It makes me proud. It shall be my pleasure to wear that scarlet letter until I decide to put on something different.

I used to have a picture of Pete Townshend under my name. I got rid of it even before he was accused and cleared of child porn charges because for some reason it used to set people off. I'd post something and guys would reply by saying, "Oh yeah? The Who suck!"

go figure, but this was the offending photo:

apparently to some people, it's intensely distracting.

Thank you for formally acknowledging what other posters and I have witnessed occur here on MOL for a long time. There are two sets of rules on MOL. One for those with conservative views and one for everyone else. Say something provacative, in a conservative vein, and chances are you're history.

Remove whatever you'd like, you have made your decision so be it, I have made my point. If anything I've learned from this.

Bias is subtle and those who practice it often cannot see it themselves. It is present on MOL and prevelent among supposed liberals.

It is troubling that you are selective with regards to enforcing MOL non-policy. Choosing to pick on me rather than Mayhewdrive. Why? Simple. Because my mistake was to post "The road to hell is paved with liberals." While they instead chose to bash the president. That somehow or another is construed to not be considered a personal attack.

Perhaps that was too personal for you only because you consider yourself to be a liberal minded thinker.

"It will be replaced by a blank tile tomorrow, so others don't get the idea it's an official MOL policy." Why? What are you afraid of? Why not speak the truth?

But please don't point out our being biased, it sends the wrong message about liberal thinking.

My reasoning for the restriction was made clear and was non-partisan in nature
I noted I was wrong immediately after you pointed out another profile image I hadn't read closely before.
I acknowledged I made a mistake
I apologized to you
I offered to help you put up a new tile (so people won't think there are restrictions)

And you come back with this.

And yet I'm being biased? I'm not being truthful?

Dave-
Why bother? We already know:
1. This is YOUR board, for which you give many people free access.
2. Anyone else has the right to start their own board.
3. You have apologized to Cowboy.
4. Many people who are "liberals" have come to Cowboy's defense.
5. CB would rather pout & try to co-opt folks into his "Dave is unfair" moment than to graciously accept your apology & move on.

Let him take his toys & go home since he doesn't like the way the other kids are playing.

Not mine.
I don't know how to post a profile picture.
If I did I might go with the "Trunk Lady" that Rick Parker did for my business.
Deanne printed it on for me a mailing.

I go back to saying that if the picture is not blatantly offensive to broad community values, leave it alone. Otherwise, ban all pictures.

This whole debate is ridiculous--between almost paranoid sniping and seemingly disingenuous posts, it all goes to show how silly it is to try to deconstruct personal icons or parse the fine print.

Dave, you should not have to be in a position to be the arbiter of what pictures are acceptable or not, or to try to write a policy that will cover all permutations. You do a fantastic job running this Board (it is one of the best I have been on), and I hate to think you are wasting your energy on this issue. Either let the pictures fly (except for the blatantly offensive ones) or ban them all.

I see that Dave has taken steps to remove the label he replaced instead of the one I chose.

As is consistent on MOL, posters can feel free to use whatever pictures they wish.

Wait till you see what I choose.

LOL. Yeah, after 12 e-mails about "political use" of profile images I decided to staunch the flow. Now go nuts with Nohero's link!

(Any Janet Jackson images will result in permanently disabled accounts per Michael Powell's private note to me from yesterday.)
