Can someone please explain to me why 99% of people in the area NEVER use their blinkers? It is my No.1 pet peeve whilst driving. Today I was driving on Ridgewood and 4 different cars made both left and right turns without any warning, I was far enough behind them for it not to be dangerous just extremely annoying. Its such a easy thing to do yet very few people do it. When the roads are busy and/or slippy it is especially dangerous and shows no consideration for those travelling behind you? Am I the only one this annoys? |

The other day, I was driving along a residential street in town and the driver ahead was going extremely slowly and pulled gradually over to the right. I decided that it appeared safe to pass so I started around to the left. Suddenly, with no signal, (s)he then turned left into a driveway. Fortunately, I was able to brake and avoid hitting them.
If it was really necessary to pull farther to the right in order to make the turn (which I question, but possibly was the case), it was ever so much more important to signal the intended turn.

The corollary of this is the driver with the turn signal flashing who doesn't turn! I've learned not to turn when the oncoming car is signaling a turn that would leave its lane clear, as it may turn, it may not turn, the turn signal may be left on from a previous turn that wasn't sharp enough to turn the signal off, or the driver might be trying to adjust the lights and has hit the wrong lever.
While we are on the topic of annoying drivers, may I add those drivers who totally block the intersection for turning traffic while waiting for the light to change on their street? Park Road and Valley and Harvard and Valley are two bad locations, because of the lights on Oakland and on Tuscan. The drivers who are blocking the intersections are always SO careful to avoid eye contact with the drivers whom they are blocking!
