I've used Amica since about 1956 and my father did before that. Now the cost of my homeowners' policy has increased by 25% and there are no further deductibles I can take. If I switch one coverage I'll also switch the other.
Any suggestions would be most welcome?

We use Encompass -- I never heard of 'em before, but they used to be CNA, now a division of someone else -- Allstate ... I think. Reasonable rates and many policy options for both home and auto. Our agent: Jack Reiner - 973-376-6810.

We use Liberty Mutual. Only ever had auto claims, but they move fast and they are very professional.

We use Liberty Mutual as well and find the auto insurance portion in particular is very reasonable.

We also use the Reiners for our Encompass Insurance. We've never had any claims, but they are very helpful.

I used to have Liberty Mutual, actually had them for close to 10 years. During that time we made three claims which were all handled efficiently and reasonably. I had to drop them though when they refused to remove my 22 y.o. stepson from our policy despite the fact that he moved to Philly. They wouldn't remove him unless he showed proof of insurance somewhere else and seeing as how he lives in center city he wasn't going to be getting a car anytime soon. With the purchase of two new cars this past year our premiums soared past the 5K per year mark. That coupled with the fact that they would not insure our home because of the inground oil tank made me switch to Allstate (who did cover our home). They agreed to remove our son and offered us some great discounts for being good drivers. Bottom line is that we now save close to 50% of our old bill. Haven't made a claim yet so I can't opine on how well they would do.

I swicthed to Liberty Mutual and saved half compared to Prudential, I also switched my homeowners to Liberty Mutual and saved about half on that with better coverage.

However, Todays Ledger has an article about Liberty Mutual, they are going to raise their rates.

Thank you all for your input. I had a great life insurance policy with Liberty Mutual which I took out to cover my girls' college expenses should I die during that time. I've cashed that in now. It was a very, very good policy, with, at first, very low interest on loans. (My gals paid 4% on their student loans!)
I think I'll look for a site that compares companies--think I'll start with the NJ Commissioner of Insurance. I enjoy these "research projects".
