We are going to see Lyle Lovett tomorrow an NJPAC and want to have diner first. Any suggestions (I know about the places in the Ironbound, I was wondering if there is anything right by NJPAC, I thought I had heard there was) Thanks. |

There is a restaurant in the NJPAC itself. Just across the street, there is a restaurant called Maize in the Robert Treat Hotel. Continuing up that street, at the next corner, there is Arthurs Downtown, which has the same owner as Arthurs Landing over by the Weehawken Ferry. I've been to the NJPAC restaurant and Arthurs, and heard some good comments about Maize |

Pronto Cena is where you want to eat--great food and location--see the Zagat review below! Jersey City,Newark 87 Sussex St. (Washington St.) Jersey City, NJ, 07302 (201) 435-0004 1 Riverfront Plaza/Raymond Blvd. (McCarter Hwy.) Newark, NJ, 07102 (973) 824-8999 “Wonderful owner” Charles Moschini “really cares about” the “fresh, flavorful and varied menu served in” his “superb Italian” duo, each of which boasts a “lovely staff”; the original “rises above its neighborhood counterparts”, bringing a “bit of Tuscany to Jersey City”, while the two-year-old Newark branch is an “ideal pre-theater dining spot for visitors to the New Jersey Performing Arts Center.”

Pronto Cena in Newark is good, but it's a little further walk from the NJPAC (especially with the road construction around the area). It's in an office building near Penn Station, but to walk from the NJPAC you have to go around the PSE&G building, then past the Seton Hall Law School, and cross McCarter Highway. |

The interior of Maize is beautiful and we enjoyed our food. It was a couple of years ago, so I don't remember details. |

I recommend both Maize and the Theater Square Grill, which is the restaurant in the PAC. You'll need reservations for both, especially if you're trying to catch a show. |

Then of course there is Seabra's Rodizio, right on the river front closer to the stadium, about 5 minute to NJPAC, and they have thier own parking lot. It's one of those Brazilian all you can eat BBQ's where the waiters go around with skewers of filet mignon, chicken, lamb, beef, alligator, buffalo, etc... and you can wash it all down with delicious white or red Sangria. There is also a great salad bar included, and for the price, it is surprisingly a pleasant experience. They may even have wandering musicians. |

Arthurs' and Seabra's Rodizio are both excellent choices. |

Thanks for all the tips. For logistical reasons we ended up eating in Maplewood but will keep them in mind for next time. |

Hey, I was driving and, well, my wife is a bit of a lightweight. (It was American Fare) The show was awesome. Guy Clark, Joe Ely, John Hiatt, and Lyle Lovett. They were on stage in a row each with an Acoustic Guitar. They Started with Guy Clark and then went down the row, each one doing a song, often prefaced with commentary. The others somtimes accompanied whoever was playing but a lot of the time they were just listening. Both the first set and the encore closed with the four of them doing a Woody Guthrie Song together, Blowin' Down This Road and This Land is Your Land. On this Land is Your Land John Hiatt did the usually ignored "By the Relief office" verse and Lyle Lovett did the also usualy ignored "Sign said no Tesspassing" verse. There were also several nasty comments about NYU closing the Bottom Line from both Lovett and Hiatt (which got lots of applause). Great show. |
