I think that's a grinning face I chose to describe my feelings for leaving this frozen place and going to an island where it is currently averaging 55 degrees. We'll be at a resort near Palma de Mallorca. Anyone been this time of year? We are looking for peace and to warm up a little but might be interested in some cultural activities and always appreciate a good restaurant. Thanks, R |

We went last year. The island is beautiful but loaded with German and British tourists. Palma is the only place where Spanish food and culture still exists. Look for a dish called Fidéua, paella made with spaghetti-type noodles instead of rice. Deelish. I'll have to ask my wife the names of the restaurants and hotel we liked. (Hotel Lorenzo?) Great rock climbing, if that floats your boat. Check out Soller (sp?) and the northern tip of the island. There are also some really cool caves with stalagmites (sp?) in the east. |
