Congratulations to all the Stroller kids and the adults who have brought HONK Jr. to the Burgdorf. We watched our daughter and about 18 other kids put on a fantastic production last night. Directed towards children HONK Jr. is a musical adaptation of The Ugly Duckling and is well suited to the adults in the audience who all seemed to have a fantastic time. I'd highly recommend everyone to check out the show. There are five more performances, today 1/31 and tomorrow 2/1 at 2:00, great for the kids and only $5 ($7 for adults). And also next Friday night 2/6 at 7:30 and again Saturday 2/7 and Sunday 2/8 at 2:00. I can't rave enough about what a fantastic job all the kids did. The audience was filled last night and brought to a standing ovation for the wonderful show. If you are looking for something to do in from the cold check it out! |

I'd like to take my 4 1/2 year old son to see it, but I need to know what the recommended age range is as well as how long the show is. Will it hold the attention of young children for the duration of the show? |

Hey Jasper Sunday's performance was another sellout and children comprised 70% of the house with no disturbances. I sat next to a 2 year old who was completely enthralled. It is a great show, lots of movement, laughter and great visual appeal for kids and adults. If your child can sit through any Disneyesque movie, they will love this and might actually catch the 'theater bug'. The running time is an hour and 15 minutes with no intermission. This is a really sweet show. When Honk! opened in London it beat out the Lion King for the Olivier Award. Some of the songs will just tug on your heart. When the Mother and Ugly sing "Different" you almost want to cry. I told my husband it sounds like a promo for the Maplewood Chamber of Commerce. Everyone in the barnyard starts taunting the Ugly Duckling for not being like them and he sings the lyrics: I'm just different But I have a sense of pride My looks may well be funny But I hurt the same inside Different isn't spiteful Differnent isn't wrong So why is it so hard to get along? Different isn't naughty Different isn't bad So why should being different make me sad? Also, you don't want to miss the Bullfrog singing "Out There, Someone's Gonna Love Ya - Warts And All", but being the mother of the aforementioned frog, I digress. All of this to say, a very entertaining show put on by a cast of 10 - 14 year olds, with wonderful direction. It will beat any movie you might wind up going to. jml want more info, try here http://broadwayjr.com/store/showkitproduct.asp?catalog_name=Showkit&category_nam e=Showkits&product_id=HonkJunior |

Thanks justmelaura. It sounds wonderful. We didn't end up making it there yesterday, but we'll try to catch it this weekend. Sounds like we should even buy tickets in advance.

Just get there about 20 minutes before show time so you can sit in the orchestra instead of the balcony where it's hard for the little ones to see. JML - the frog was definitely the star of the show - your kid has loads of personality that just shines - he seems like quite the ham (all the other kids were pretty cute too!). |

I took my 4 1/2 year old twins on Saturday and they absolutely loved it. They didn't fidget one bit. And my mother in law and I were equally entertained. I felt so proud of all these kids--and none of them are mine! Very talented children. A must see with young kids. I happened to find out about it in the Jersey section of the Times that very day. |
