Does anyone know of any place in the area. Looking for something "old school" like the Rainbow Room. Big Bandish, ellegant with good food. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

"Does anyone know of any place in the area.."

If you're talking about Maplewood as the area, I need to ask you a few questions first....

How "Old School", how big a rainbow, how large a band, how ellegant, how good the food, and most important, how long are you willing to wait?

I would highly recommend The Manor on Prospect Ave. in West Orange. Check their website at www.themanorrestaurant.com and see for yourself. I know they have dancing every Friday and Sat night..Their food is exceptional too....

My wife and I love the Highlawn for dining and the vista, then to the Dome for drinks and dancing. Good choice, enjoy...

The Hilton at Short Hills used to have a jazz band on Saturday nights and ballroom dancers used to congregate there. It was fun just to watch all the couples who looked like they'd been dancing together for 50 years. I don't know if that still exists.
