THe good thing about the breast exposure is that at least it has enabled us to talk about how assinine the whole halftime show was and how letting MTV do their thing was like sending in cookie monster to mind the cookies. (Okay, not as good as George Vecsey's metaphor of send in the dog, you're bound to get fleas...) Without the breast thing, the MTV sham-o-tainment event may not have been publicly discussed for what it was.... a bunch of crap aimed for a very narrow audience not appropriate nor relevant for the broader superbowl audience. |

I can't believe this. Janet Jackson has been dropped from the Grammy's because of this whole " breast thing." Is Justin Tomberlake being punished? What about Madonna and Brittany Spears who kissed on national television. Something is definetly rotten in Denmark. |

Then again, in most European countries breasts and nudity are exposed all the time on tv. Topless beaches are the norm. Why is it so taboo in the states? Immaturity and sophomoric displays of it? |

I think they should just cancel the televising of the grammies. I mean, have you seen who is actually nominated for the different categories? A bunch of prisoners holdin on to their d**ks singing about my bitch no ho, butt butt butt... I think Lyle Lovett was nominated for best country (gag, i thought i didn't like country) album, though, which is nice cause he rocks...rocks hard. |

Choco before you go off on a rant about some conspiracy against the Jacksons or worse some sort of racial overtones about why JJ is being punished and not Madonna and Brittany rest assured that master timberlake is also in danger of being removed from the Grammy performance. All the better if you ask me. |

Last summer I read about a big outdoor concert in Canada with the Stones and other rock bands and actually, Justin Timberlake was there. THe concert was great, but when Justin came out he got booed and food thrown at him!!! Really, his "talent" is limited and this audience knew it. All the pop stuff is limited talent if you ask me, and musically nowhere...oh sure, they can jump around and dance but come on, give me some real music with real instruments, chords and melodies and meaning!!!!! |

Listen, you guys are just a bunch of old fogeys. Music these days is a lot different from what you grew up with, old men and women. You remind me of my Grandmother who thought tht Chuck Berry was the devils minion because of the way he moved on stage. My mother loved him, though. Now this generation likes Eminem, Jay-Z, Beyonce, Brittany. Unfortunately, they don't want to listen to geriatric acts like the Eagles, the Stones, Earth Wind and Fire. And Lyle Lovett! The average of of his fans is what 65?! Heck , when you were their age you didn't want to listen to your parents sock hop music. Face it, you guys are old, mini van driving ancients, out of touch with the youth, heading towards retirement. Your idea of fun is sucking down a 3 dollar latte at Starbucks, and reading MOL. |

choco- you are so wrong!!! As my kids are getting older I've seen them latch on to all the pop crap that is shoved down their throats by big evil music conglomerates and then they actually move on. There is a huge groundswell of good music - it's just not played on commercial radio - ask any older teen or college kid. |

So who won the game, I forget? CNN.com has an article in which Ms. Jackson sort of admits that the "disrobing" had been planned by herself and Mr. Timberlake at the last minute. She appologized by the way. Chris Matthews on Hardball last night took time out from his usual repeats of Governor Dean's rant in Iowa to show the "disrobing". Actually he showed it several times. It is pretty hard to see this as an accident imho. The aforementioned Mr. Timberlake got a good handful of, uhm, bustier and gave it a real tug. I have no trouble with nudity on TV. I channel surf all the time to find it. However, half time of a sporting event doesn't seem the correct time or place, plus there were real S&M overtones. I was kidding about the channel surfing, honest!! |

In http://www.cnn.com/2004/US/02/02/superbowl.jackson/index.html, Jackson said
quote:"MTV was completely unaware of it. It was not my intention that it go as far as it did. I apologize to anyone offended -- including the audience, MTV, CBS and the NFL."
Is that clever wording by Jackson? That WHAT went as far as it did? The outcry or the breast? Tom Reingold the prissy-pants There is nothing

It was a wardrobe malfunction. Only JJ's red lace bra was to be exposed. Obviously the bra was defective and could not withstand a strong tug by Mr. Timberape. |

Good thing that JJ's defective wardrobe did not catch on the ring as Mr. Timberape was unintentionally exposing more than he allegedly intended to expose. |

What if Justin had grabbed the edge of the solar shield, and had ripped Janet's nipple completely off with 89 million viewers watching? Now that would have been a memorable halftime finale! |

And I think we should just stop listening to people like the Jacksons and the Timberlakes and the half-wits behind the networks. Their 15 minutes are toast. Burnt. Over-hyped and creatively-challenged. Lowest common-denominator. Why must entertainnment seek to debase? |

The Grammy Awards are going to be telecast with some sort of an enhanced delay system. Ditto for the Oscars broadcast later on. Why the delay system? So that obscenities or nudity can be deleted before being broadcast to American homes. This is the entertainment industry we all fawn over. Now television executives can't even broadcast awards shows without delay systems. Says a lot, doesn't it? Now quick, who’ll be the first one to blame anyone but the “entertainers” who caused this all in the first place?

Have you noticed how this week none of the 'talking heads' are featuring the MICHAEL Jackson story!! Makes me wonder if Janet's 'exposure' was a well-thought out attempt to draw attention away from her brother! Just a thought!!!! |

And by the way the porn queen Paris Hilton is hosting the Miss America pageant. Brittany and Madonna, stars of the lesbian liplock are going to be at the Grammy's. R. Kelly, who has been accused of having sex with minors is going to be at the Grammy's ( keep him away from Michael Jackson) |

For anyone who cares, the Bill Maher show on HBO had what I thought was a very amussing musical number at the begining of the show about untended wardrobe malfunctions. The show will probably be repeated five or six time during the week. Be warned, its rude and crude. But hey, its not television, its HBO. TomR. |
