Does anyone have anything to say about acrylic tubs? I'm looking at a Kohler soaking tub to replace my current, VERY OLD tub in my VERY SMALL bathroom. It's a great size -- 48 inches long, but 32 inches deep. Unfortunately, I have no experience with acrylic tubs.

They're OK. They're louder than ceramic when the water pours in. And they can get stained, so you're best off cleaning it frequently.

Assuming you are going to use it, check the gallonage it holds. With many deep tubs a 50 gallon water heater just doesn't cut it.

In our master bathroom we have the Kohler soak tub.Ours is the one with the water overflow on all 4 sides. Its a great tub and very realxing when the sound of the water overflows the only thing is make sure that your hot water heater is large enough i think the tub holds about 104 gallons of water. Also you cannot start the jacuzzi until it is filled completely. They just came out with newer model that has colored lights on the bottom of the tub .

The in tub Jacuzzi's are a royal pain.

I've found that black mold will start to grow in the pipes and pumps as it loves soap scum, body oils and skin cells.

At least once a month we had to fill the tub, add 1/2 gallon of bleach, let it run for a while, let it sit for hours then drain, re-fill and flush twice.

Think twice about those in tub units.

I wasn't thinking of a jacuzzi, just the deep tub. I'm not a big fan of swirling water myself. Sounds like an acrylic tub (by itself) is basically ok.

Thanks for the info!
