Does it matter if you purchase a compatible or genuine cartridge for your printer? The price difference is about $27. i'd like to know this as well. i need a cartridge for my fax machine as well as 3 different ones for my hp printer. |

The general theory is that you’ll get ¾ of the pages printed per cartridge. There are no ill effects on your printer. I have two Fax/Printers (HP) and always use compatible cartridges because the price is about %50 cheaper. |

I forgot to add that with compatible cartridges the “Low Toner” alert on your printer may not always work. So you may want to keep a spare around incase you can’t make it to the store. |
