For all music fans out there...the CHS Music Marathon is fast approaching. Scheduled for Saturday, March 6th, from 12pm to 6pm, the Music Marathon is a showcase for all instrumental & vocal groups at Columbia High School, as well as from both South Orange & Maplewood Middle Schools.

Come enjoy the music and our talented youth! Food and beverages will be offered for sale.

Sincerely,

Is it really 12-6? I marked it in my calendar as starting at 7pm. I'd love to be wrong, because I'm supposed to be in a concert of my own (with the Harmonium Chorale) at 8pm, and I told my conductor I can't perform that day because of the CHS event.

Does anyone have the complete schedule? All I know is that my 7th grader, who is in MMS 7th and 8th grade chorus and orchestra, has her performances starting about 1:00. Presumably the 6th grade groups precede that time and the high school groups follow later in the afternoon, based on previous years.

Hey, why are you sitting home at the computer? Listen to some of the community's great student musicians this afternoon, at Columbia High School.

great show today, congrats to all involved. It looks like "Peter Pan" is going to be outstanding, they did five excerpts from it and the cast and orchestra are terrific.

This was a fantastic event...for me and the two third graders and one first grader I brought. And not only did we see a number of really good musical performances, but when walking past the auditorium, we were invited in to see "Peter Pan" do some test flights...yes, there is flying in the production. The kids loved it all...the musical should be fantastic...the students can all sing, dance and play well.

I have to say we were repeatedly thanked for coming and encouraged to come see "Peter Pan". The students seemed appreciative and excited. There wasn't just a handful of them at the school, but dozens of them, proud to show off something really good. I couldnt help but wonder if they get tired of the hammering the school gets from some people and are eager to show folks a positive aspect that cuts across such a wide range of the student population.

And, I think I sat next to Tom, of the post above mine.

Peter Pan will be at CHS on March 12, 13, 19 and 20 at 7:30. Also at 2pm on March 14 and 21. Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for students and $8 for children 12 and under. I assume there will be refreshments for sale as in previous years. Peter Pan T-shirts will also be for sale. And, of course, they will all FLY to Neverland.

I have never been disappointed in any CHS musical. I don't even have a kid there (yet). We've seen at least 4 of them. I urge you to attend and enjoy the fruits of the outstanding talent and dedication of multiple students and staff.
