I'm surprised nobody has commented on today's article in the Newark Star Ledger concerning this establishment. How many knew there was a 'church' there, the same one that started out at the Y in maplewood? It's been told it has to leave.

I find this comment most interesting:

"This is our third church here," Jackson said. "They will allow me to have a party, they will allow me to have dance classes, but they won't let me have a church?"

Parties, dance classes, and what else? Until how late at night? With how many documented, unaddressed fire code violations???

Interesting article. Something tells me there's more to the story, especially if they've been dismissed from two other locations. Or maybe it's their bad luck for choosing this location which appears to be fraught with problems.

The link below is the most recent South Orange Police Blotter. The Liquor store mentioned is at 319 South Orange Ave.

That whole corner is a problem. The barber shop and the liqour store are the cause of an awful lot of late night loitering, especially in the summertime. The corner looks seedy, looks like it was transplanted from the worst part of Newark. I don't understand why the trustess aren't doing something about this eyesore. And I don't think that it is a coincidence that there was also a robbery right around the corner form there on Warren Place about a month ago.

chocoholic-

i think you have 61 south orange ave mixed up with some place else in town. there is no barbarber shop or liqour store near this store, nor is this store on a corner.
