I call to the attention of the SO members of the Board of School Estimate the above subject being discussed in the MOL education thread.

Would the SO members of the Board of School Estimate be less likely to allow the BOE to play these same kind of games if the Gaslight Commons and other proposed projects were not piloted? That is, the pilot revenues go entirely to reduce the municiapl tax burden. The BOT can say they managed the municipal tax burden but had to approve the special question, without requiring the BOT to be more rigorous in coming up with its budget.

There is a dscussion going on in the Education thread concerning the school budget, and in particular last evening's meeting of the BOE and BOSE. This really is addressed to the BOT and SO members of the BOSE.

I don't know how this years education or municpal budget is going to end up. I don't know how the SO members of the BOSE are going to vote. What I do know is that fairness dictates that there be a revaluation soon, or at least the BOT should start discussing it. We have reached a stage where the property assessments in SO are really out of line. With one of the highest tax rates in the state, those houses that are assessed at a higher value in comparison to similar houses are really being unfairly taxed. If we're going to continue with these tax increases, it is imperative that there be a revaluation so that the increases are paid in an equitable manner.
