Just picked up a new train schedule for NJT (effective february 15, 2004. The only weekday change I would find for Maplewood is that the 6:08 AM train is now the 6:05 AM train. Didn't get around to checking the weekend schedule differences since we almost never take the train in on Saturday or Sunday.

NJT makes these minor schedule adjustments so often, and then needs to print thousands of dollars worth of new schedules. What a waste of money. You would think they could rationalize this to be more efficient, and spend the money instead on new loudspeakers or something useful.

I would be interested in seeing NJ Transit think outside the box.

Instead of constantly tweaking the same train routes, maybe they should consider on certain lines to have express trains that go from Penn Station to a far stop, then do a local back towards NY with a full train.

This would lighten the loads on some of the trains. It would also let more people move further away and still have a decent commute.

I'm fairly certain NJ Transit is subject to Conrail's schedule changes because they share some rails.

I think NJT said a while ago that schedules would be changing as the Secaucus transfer station stop is added to more trains/lines. That would seem to account for the few minutes earlier departure, in oreder to make the scheduled arrival at Penn Station.
Haven't seen a new schedule yet, tho.

I looked on my way home this evening at the Eighth Avenue ticket counter but saw only the schedule effective as of December. I guess I'll have to try the other counter nearest the Seventh Avenue side next week.
