On Friday, when all the ice melted down, our garage got about 3-4 inches of water. It left by Saturday, but I had a lot of trouble getting into our car. Someone we know suggests we drill a hole in the center of the concrete floor for drainage. Does this seem like a good idea? |

No, the water will just seep into the soil and undermine the floor causing it to crack and buckle. It may take a few years, but this will happen if the water problem is chronic. It would appear that either the driveway pitches into the garage or, hopefully, you just had snow built up high enough near the door so that it melted into the garage. Since from your post it sounds like this isn’t a regular problem I rather suspect a little more time with the snow shovel might prevent a recurrence.
