On another thread, I mentioned being a lifelong Jersey guy, and it reminded me of this article from yesterday's Star-Ledger. It seems Jersey guys are getting their due, at long last:

quote:

The Jersey Guy is becoming so recognizable that he has become a "brand," according to Darren Boch, account director at Florham Park-based Keating & Co.

"As with every brand, people assign certain characteristics to it," Boch explained. "What exactly is the Jersey Guy brand? He's abrasive, yet lovable. He has an edgy, animated sense of humor and he's tough, physically and mentally.

"He always wants to get ahead, which makes him more entrepreneurial, if not harder-working. And he's smarter than he lets on. You never want to underestimate him because of his accent or attitude. He can be considered arrogant, but that's just because he believes, deep in his heart, that he lives in the center of the universe, in the Promised Land. He's a guy from New Jersey. And that actually means something."
