What's with the Christmas lights????? I can't believe people still have their lights up. When are you gonna take them down??? We are in February already. I was driving around on Saturday afternoon since it was so nice out and I can't believe how many people still have their lights up.

I'm waiting until I see Spring arrive to dis-mantle the Xmas trim! But what about people with Turkey's and Ghosts still hanging outside from Thanksgiving and Halloween?

Little harsh there CioBella! We don't turn them on.. but given the weather, they'll be up until I can safely put a ladder up to take them down (which may be this weekend).

I drove past a house last Saturday that still had a Christmas tree inside the house, all lit up.

If someone wants to keep the holiday spirit going for a few more weeks, what's the harm?

It's not like there's an old Buick up on blocks in the front yard. Or worse yet, an ugly oversized addition built on the side of the house.

I think you're being a little harsh, though. our lights are still up, because I didn't want to brave a wet roof or take a chance on frostbite over the last several weekends. yeah, Sunday was ok, and maybe I could have gone out then, but had some other stuff to do.

I really didn't think having the lights up (but not turned on) in the 2nd week of Feb was grounds for going up before the aesthetics police.

We don't have Christmas lights up, they're Valentine's Day lights (and Memorial Day lights, and 4th of July Lights......)

My wreath is up. I think it is an unwritten contest on our street to see who can keep their wreath up the longest before it gets so brown that it really really just isn't pretty anymore

I still have a big, green, velvet ribbon on my unhinged front door.

It is such a dreary winter that I wish everyone who still has lights up would turn them on at night. In fact, if I had lights outside they would be on the minute it got dark. My wreath is still up and I will leave it there for a few more weeks. I can't imagine anyone getting up on a ladder right now. The snow on the ground is so icy that you can walk across it and not even leave a footprint. So, if you have lights up turn them on, they look great and help me get rid of the winter doldrums!

We had a block party on Sept 12. The organizers led the kids in making scarecrows. Our scarecrow still sits next to our front steps. We haven't done any holiday decoration or undecoration since then. I just haven't felt so inclined. Well, I probably will take that scarecrow down soon.
