I am looking for suggestions for the best local florist to buy Valentine's Day flowers. I hope to find something better (and cheaper) than ordering via internet delivery. My wife prefers tulips over roses, so on internet it would come to about $40 (s&h included) for assort. of 20 tulips. Thanks!

I've had good luck with Gelfken's Florist on Ridgewood Road.

My husband always buys me flowers at Jerry Rose. The florist on Baker Street also looks very nice.

Sunny and great! It was about 80 every day, cool and comfortable at night. I am always happy to get back to Maplewood though -- life moves way too slow down there. Let's get together soon.

if you just want tulips, as you mention in your original post, try Kings in Short Hills or Whole Foods. You will have a pretty good color selection and I think Kings in Short Hills at least has a counter where they may even wrap them a little more nicely than in the plain old celophane.

If Kings or other marketS don't have what you'd like, check with Patina's on Springfield Avenue.

DON'T WAIT UNTIL FRIDAY.

The lady florist on Baker Street is wonderful. Great personality, and can supply your need regardless of weirdness, personalness. Will talk flowers, can be cheap if you need to be. I go get a fix every couple of weeks...

I like Patina Florist on Springfield Avenue in Maplewood. They are not too expensive and do a beautiful job.

We just had a very good experience with Stephen at Art n' Bloom on Springfield Avenue.

He does great work on custom projects.

Stephen put together a really very lovely, creative holiday centerpiece for us in December. It was beautiful!

We've used Patina's a couple of times and have not been disappointed. Their floral arrangements for mother's day were absolutely beautiful.
