My problem: my gutters have frozen solid and, as it warms up, water from the melting snow on the roof is dripping (and sometimes pouring) in certain places between the gutter and the outside wall of my house. When it gets cold the dripping water freezes onto the walls and windows and has started to leak into the house at the window sills (which are rotten and need to be replaced, likely because of the leaking gutters). Does anyone know how I can waterproof where the roof meets the gutters so that I can stop the leaking down the face of my house. This appears to only be happening above my sunroom and, thankfully, not elsewhere in my house. Thanks for your help.

Handygirl - see this link: /discus/messages/3131/26550.html?1075780019 Sounds like your problem is similar to mine. The Ice Wire recommendation seems by far the most reasonable, but if you come up with anything better, I'd love to hear about it.

Thanks Mergele, however, at this stage in the game, I'm not as concerned about melting the frozen gutters as I am about waterproofing or sealing the leaks between the gutter and the roof to stop the water from dripping down the face of my house. If anyone has a solution for this, please let me know. Specifically, could I caulk the joint where the gutter meets the roof? I don't think that water should be dripping between the gutter and the house, even when the gutters are frozen solid - but what do I know??????
