My cell phone contract with verizon is almost up and I cant decide if I should re-up with them or switch now that we can transfer numbers. If you were in my shoes, is there another service you would try? Also, I am ready to get rid of my old phone (donate to charity), and cant decide which one to purchase. Things that are important: Would like a flip, need color, mobile internet, good signal, brand doesnt matter, not wanting to spend more than 200, but would consider for the right phone? If you could have any phone on the market (avail in the us), what would you buy? Looking forward to hearing opinions. |

If I could have any phone I would probably go with the Handspring Treo 600. http://www.handspring.com/products/communicators/treo600_overview.jhtml |

My boss has a Treo 600 and loves it. I covet it. I wear a phone on one hip and a big old Palm on the other, so the Treo would be ideal for me. But I'm too cheap to spring for it. If you're relatively happy with Verizon, stick with it. Their coverage around here is good. They have the most satisfied customers. I'm pretty happy with my T-Mobile service and the rates I pay, but if I had Verizon, I would stick with it. Sprint claims to have the fastest internet speed, which may be true because of the type of signaling technology they use. Tom Reingold the prissy-pants There is nothing

I have been a Verizon customer for about three years, switchede from AT&T and I am very happy. I got a new phone about two weeks ago, LG4400B, it is a flip, trimode and easy to use. VZ has a deal if you up your contract for a two years you get the phone at a great rate. Check out their site. |

I was an AT&T customer for several years but got tired of the poor service. I switched to Verizon 2 years ago and have been very happy. We recently moved to Maplewood and I have not found service to be a problem. I got a new phone in November, the Samsung SCH A530, and really like it. Mine came with 2 batteries, so, if you're organized, one is always charged. Battery life is very good and the features are nice (flip phone with color but no camera). I don't use the mobile Internet so can't speak about that. I was skeptical because it's all digital and not tri-mode, but my business travel days are mainly behind me and I haven't had problems to date. I find the voice quality to be better than my older phone (Motorola). The Samsung is $159.99 before $30 rebate (have to sign a 2 year contract). Whats funny is that the phones that everyone is mentioning are ones that I have been looking at. I will probably stay with verizon, but would be willing to try Tmobile. I know both sprint and att arent all they are cracked up to be. Thanks for the advice so far. Hope others chip in as well. |

I have Tmobile and it seems fine. Don't have a problem with service locally. DH has AT&T and hates it. Main problem for him is no service in the tunnel out of Penn Station. I like having different phone services as when his doesn't work mine usually does. I have an older Samsung flip model that I love but the battery power sucks. BUT it was submerged in the pond in Taylor Park (along with my double stroller, don't ask) and still works. DH has an Ericsson that is not well made, the battery panel is very loose. But we are probably switching to Verizon soon to their Freedom Plan (local, LD, wireless in one package) with a family wireless option. Cheaper and only one bill to deal with. Plus I've heard they have much better service. Unfortunately they don't offer as good phone deals as the other companies, probably because they don't need to. |
