Hi, Im looking for a good goose for Valentines Day...anyone know where I can get one? (and before anyone misinterprets this..I mean the sort of goose one cooks..and not the ones cruising Memorial Park or any other sort of goose). I checked with Kings but they said they dont get them this time of year...I can get duck (my dinner fallback), but wanted to try to prepare goose. Anyone have any ideas where?

What about the Whole Foods place in Millburn? They seemed to have some unusual stuff...Not just hippy brown things... |

Why don't you try the Asian market on Rt. 10, Kam Man? You could call first, and if you're lucky enough to find someone who speaks English well enough, then you could see if they have one before you drive all the way out. It's easy to get goose over the holidays, even at Shop-Rite. Valentine's Day might be tough. |

I can get a goose..but not for Valentine's Day...I need to allow a few days to order one up (no spontaneous goose this time of year obviously). But I did get a duck...so it will be home-made Peking duck tomorrow. |

Just saw this thread, a liitle late... Next time try D'Artagnan, a purveyor of game and other delicacies. I bought a goose from them for Christmas Eve. You can order from their website, which allows you to choose your shipping date (all shipping is FedEx). My goose arrived Dec. 23 (fresh, not frozen!) and was roasted on the 24th as planned. Delicious! They also offer a wide variety of other tasty treats including venison, foie gras, and saucicon. Enjoy! |
