Brett, Thanks for posting this.

Is the "big garage" at the end (in front of the water tank) the top-of-the-hill fire annex?

I don't really know. I was going to take a ride (Walk if it's nice out) around this weekend and find it.

Are those lightning rods on it or cell phone antennae?

Seems like there should be additional info on the gaslights w/r/t some people disliking Edison (and so not using his invention). Don't have the details, but that's something I've heard.

Kathy - That's it at the end of Crest Drive.

Dave- I don't think the cell phone antennae have been installed yet. I think there have been a couple of approvals. Also, I thought they were to go on the other water tower. I've been meaning to ask.

In regards to the gaslights (at least around the center of the village), I noticed that they might have sodium bulbs near the top of the fixture. The only reason I noticed was because one turned on while I was walking under it so I took a closer look.

Do the lights beyond the downtown use only gas or do they use electric or a combination of gas/electric also?

Re: the surrounded house in SO. Does anyone still live in the house? Has it become part of one or more of the surrounding shops? Or, does it stand vacant? If it is in use, how do the occupants and/or customers get to it?

No Weird Maplewood section to Columbia's website? Does this mean that the only thing weird about Maplewood are certain of its citizens?

Kevin, The "gaslights" in the center of the Village are actually electric lights made to look like gaslights. But the ones on the residential streets are real gaslights with no electricity involved. They used to be lit every night but now they just burn 24 hours a day.
