I'm looking for recommendations for boarding my 12yr old male dog for 7 days in April. Thank you. |

Try Hal Wheeler's in Verona/Cedar Grove. It's a really nice place. |

There have been a few very comprehensive threads on local pet boarding options in the last 6 months. You should be able to find them in the Attic section. I have heard many negative things about Preppy Pup in recent years, the chief complaints being nasty, inattentive staff and animals returned in various states of ill health. Their location alone is enough to deter me from boarding my dog there--noisy big rig trucks going back and forth on Rt. 24 all day and night. As if the boarding experience itself isn't traumatic enough. You may have problems finding a kennel that will take a 12 year-old dog. I know that Best Friends Pet Resort on Rt. 22 does not take dogs over 10 years old. Your safest bet is probably to go with a vet. |

For a split second, I thought you were going to take your pet down the slopes. |

Preferred Pet Care in West Orange. The dogs get their own room (not a cage), they have both indoor and outdoor play areas and (most importantly) the people working their really love and play with the dogs.We brought our Basset Hound there and we would never use anyplace else after using them. |

I second Preferred Pet Care. If your 12-year old dog can't "run with the big dogs", they'll even keep him up front with the staff during the day so that he gets attention. Definitely worth a look. |

I use Barbara 201-437-9027. She watches the dogs in her home and provides excellent care. |
