We get a lot of cold air rushing through our mail slot, especially when the mailman accidently leaves it open. Any way to stop that draft? |

In the UK we have brush plates to screw on inside the door so the letters get pushed through but it really helps stop a draft. Or simply an inside plastic flap that pushes up as the letters go through and then flaps down again. However... I still haven't found them here.....I asked a local and they said as most people have mailboxes that might be why. We roll up a towel and wedge it in to stop most of the cold air coming in, but it doesn't solve the mailman problem! |

We had this problem. Mine has two springs that are suppose to keep the mail slot door pressed against the frame. All I did was remove the slot and bend the springs so they provided more pressure and it created a much better seal. Try that, if your springs are shot you can probably replace them. |

We had the same problem because the plate over the slot was missing when we bought the house. So I stuffed the slot with a thick strip of foam insulation. Did the trick perfectly. The mailman leaves the mail between the door and screen door. |
