We need to replace the (fiberglass? plastic?) liner in our tub/shower. We are not planning to replace the tub itself and want to keep the plumbing fixtures intact. I have seen some information and display items at Home Depot (a year or so ago, haven't been back to recheck) but am wondering about other options for this. We originally thought that we would do ceramic tile but have changed our minds for a variety of reasons. Has anyone done this themselves or had a good experience with a contractor doing it for you? Where can the part(s)/ materials be purchased? Any other related recommendations? |

Fiberglass is better than plastic and acrylic is better than fiberglass. The hard part is removing the old liner without doing great damage to the underlying surface since it is glued to the wall. Intallation is a pretty easy do it yourself project. The only remotely difficult part is cutting the holes for the water valve(s)and getting that lined up correctly. If you want to spend more try Bathfitters, which covers both the tub and the walls with molded acrylic liners. The only objection I have heard is that it looks like a remodeled hotel tub/shower. |
