If you're not serving alcohol, I think Morrow Church rents out their space.

You can rent the DeHart Community Center. I believe you can check availability through the Maplewood Rec Dept. We had a b-day party there once, and it was very easy since it has a kitchen as well as tables and chairs.

Haven't been in there in years, but there is a VFW hall in Maplewood on Marie Place.

Second recommendation for VFW Hall.
phone: 973-762-6336
Leave message for banquet chair Ed Raimond
Include your name, requested date(s), time approximate number of guests and phone number where you can be reached.
Space can easily accomodate 80 people and there is plenty of parking on the property and nearby.

Thank you all for the recommendations. Left a message for the VFW hall. We'll let you know how it goes. Any ideas for entertainment for the kids? Our own are easy since they are just one but there will be other kids there of various ages.

The community center (dehart) is cheap and great. I rented a moonbounce at my kid's 2yr old party from maurice's party animals; every kid from 1-10 loved it, for hours. there is even outdoor swings if the weather permits.

Thanks, for the information on the moonbounce and the dehart center, I've called them as well and left a message on their machine. I'll try them again tomorrow if I dont hear from them.

Crazy;

Pin the tail on the donkey is fun--my grandchildren love it. But try to find one. I couldn't find one anywhere. I had to make my own for my birthday which falls around Halloween. I made a pin the tail on the black cat game, and the kids loved seeing the adults staggering around blindfolded, pinning the tails on trees, furniture and each other. Of course, the kids always win.

Call me crazy, but which is "good simple fun" and which is "bad complex overindulgence"...Pin the Tail on The Donkey or Party for 80 people for a one year old?

Actually it's two 1-year-olds, Crazy. Sounds like Ida has fraternal twins!

So, if you do the math it's only about 40 people per kid, which isn't so crazy in this day and age.

Call me crazy, Crazy. But I don't think it's very welcoming to insult someone who appears to be brand new to MOL (only 3 posts so far) and who just asked an innocent question about possible party locales in the Arts/Entertainment section.

Perhaps your complaints about "bad complex overindulgence" of today's youth would be better suited to the "Soapbox?"
