I guess I could just look on the internet ... duh, I'm hungry. I'm in the city so it doesn't matter for right this minute ... dinner maybe. My son will eat a subway turkey and cheese -- he doesn't eat much so I am pretty excited that he likes something that I too like. Hmmmm, I love their pickles. |

I overdid Town Hall a few years back. I always get sloppy joe platters when we have parties -- people have told me they come for the sandwiches. I wonder if my 4 year old would eat a sloppy? He's way too picky. |

usually I do Cravings -- which I LOVE. I like Subway mostly for their pickles and b/c the sandwichs don't have too much meat in them. I hate these over sized sandwiches which I can't get my mouth around. Cravings often has their #8 (basically a turkey sloppy w/ no cheese) on special for $4.75 -- this will feed me and my son -- I pick out half the turkey and make him a little sandwich at home. I'm on a serious diet so the thousand island/russian dressing is OUT -- so is the cheese. |

I think Sylad is referring to "Hot Bagels Abroad & Deli." This is actually our family's "little place" for breakfast, the food is good and the people there are really, really nice. Even if I stop in alone, and haven't been there in a month, they remember me and ask how my son is doing. I also want to put a plug in for Pirate's Pizza, I just find the people there also to be friendly in a local kind of way, and the food ain't bad either, and they too have subs.

I think that there is a Subway on South Orange Avenue kind of near Pathmark, but on the other side of the road. I think that the place in the same building as Dunkin Donuts on Springfield Avenue in Maplewood is Blimpies. |

jab, The place across from Pathmark on Valley St. is a Blimpie's. I think that there is indeed another one on Springfield Ave. The people in the SO Blimpie's are really nice. When my son was in high school he went there quite regularly after school, and always ordered exactly the same thing. After awhile they would start making his sandwich when they saw him walking across the parking lot, and by the time he walked in the door it would be ready.

As is Daniel's!! Linda was the best, she'd remember everyones favorites. She was really proud of her kids, posting their photos or news clippings.Even crippled with arthritis, she managed to serve her sandwiches with a smile. The same crowd others on this board were afraid of, she welcomed. She's not working full time any more, (I'm not even sure if she's there part time), but she is and was a terrific asset to our community! NCJ aka LibraryLady On a coffee break..or something like it.

If you specifically want Subway, there is one closer than Essex Green - it is in West Orange at 32 Main Street, just north of the intersection with Northfield (same intersection that includes Harrar Ethopian, Eckard Drugs). |

Nancy, When Robert was home at Christmastime he went by Blimpie's and Linda was there, although she is working part-part time. Yes, I think that his photo is still up by the cash register along with a lot of other kids'. Linda did indeed welcome everybody. |

Am I the only one who finds Subway overrated? After 911 we were in temporary space and their was a Subway next door. I patronized them a couple of times a week for a few months. Now I can't even look at a Subway sandwich. Unless you spring for extra meat, you are basically eating bread and lettuce. Give me a good old Blimpie Best, with everything, any day. Although the folks on Valley Street require that you order mayo separately from "everything" for some strange reason.

Why I like Subway is because they don't load it up with meat. I don't like those big oversized sandwich. At my local lunch place I get 3 slices of roast beef on whole wheat toast (with just a tad of mustard) and they only charge me $3.50 (rather tha the reg. sandwich price of $5.95). |

That's probably why people lose weight on the "Subway diet". Not a lot of meat on them. I just usually need to eat another meal after I have a 6 incher from there. I think the best subs are from pizza shops and small deli-type places. But they're probably not in the least bit good for you. |

I find Subway overrated. In fact, there aren't many chain restaurants of any type I like. So I've turned that into a prejudice and use the question "chain or not?" when deciding. Tom Reingold the prissy-pants There is nothing

I get the ham at subway -- it's ok. I wouldn't eat the RB there -- do they have RB there. Pre-diet I used to get the turkey w/American cheese -- extra mayo, let, tom, green peppers, extra pickles, and hot peppers (must be made IIN THAT ORDER). Now I get ham on a low carb wrap, no cheese no mayo -- everything else stays the same. I'm so hungry. |

I didn't want to offend anyone before either, but I also find Subway overrated. Whenever a Subway opens somewhere, that dank bread odor lingers in the air. I really like Quizno's (though I'm definitely not a fan of their commercial). Even their low-fat sandwiches are delicious. But still, non-chain oriented sandwiches are the best. |

QUIZNO'S ROCKS! As far as I'm concerned, beats Subway or Blimpie hands down any day. There's one on Rte. 22 in Union, in a strip mall in the center island, sort of across from G. Fried Carpet if you're going eastbound. |
