Whenever I click "send/receive messages", the only messages I receive are the ones I moved to the "deleted files" during the last two days (when the problem began)! Then, while trying to work on the problem through the web-based email center on comcast.net, my monitor crashed! I could still hear my hard drive working. Within 20 minutes, monitor function resumed, but then it happened again! I contacted Comcast tech support, and the techie and I (not that my opinion is meaningful when it comes to these things) concluded that it was a software problem or bug, not an ISP problem. I can't live without email! Help!

Try removing the account and adding it again. This should fix that problem.

In the meantime, you could set up a free e-mail account at AOL, Yahoo, hotmail or the like to use as a back-up until the problem with your Outlook Express is resolved.

Thanks for the good ideas! It turned out to be a "pseudo virus." At least that's what the Comcast guy called it. I must say that everyone I have spoken to at the Comcast tech-help line has been extremely helpful.

While on the topic of Comcast and tech help:
How can I clean up my favorites list? There are a number of items I'd like to delete and can't figure out how. I put some stuff into new folders, but I'd like to get rid places I'll probably not refer to again. Thanks

If you're using Internet Explorer (I have no idea with Netscape), just choose Favorites on the top menu and then "Organize Favorites" (second option). This gives you a window of your favorites (you can click open the folders) with a delete button.

Help! I thought I'd deleted the favorites which were no longer favorites following the instructions given!
They're back!
What am I doing wrong?
I'm using Internet Explorer for Mac.

I use IE for Mac also. Make sure you highlight (by clicking on) the entire address as it appears in your "Organize Favorites" listings. Then hit Command - Delete on your keyboard. Works for me.
