It occurred to me earlier to post about it and then I got busy and forgot. Thanks for starting the thread, gemini.

I feel the same as you - sorry that it's over, satisfied with the way it ended. I was rooting for Big, glad to see he prevailed, and I got teary-eyed several times over the sad turns of events (Steve's mom) and the happy ones - adoption, true love, hard-won maturity. Everyone seems to have finally grown up, even Carrie.

I intend to collect the complete set of videos of all the seasons so that I can watch them whenever the mood strikes me.

I was happy about everything except (I can't resist a critique)...I wish they had switched the order of cell phone call and the coffee shop. I would have been more satisfied if the last shot was the girls together, proving what Big had said in the previous episode (Men are lucky to come in 5th), and showing that it was the friendships that made those ladies the people they became.

I would love to have the dvd's but I know I would never sit down and watch them! I will have to hope they keep showing reruns on HBO (can't bear to watch the sliced up version on regular cable).

Oh and I cried my eyes out when Charlotte said "that's her, that's our baby!".

I cried too! I was hesitant to start a thread about the show because people on this board think all I do is watch TV (I love pop culture!). I have to say, this is the first show that I've been sad to see go since Cheers went off the air 10 years ago. The great thing about Sex and the City calling it quits now is that it remained good until the end. (Except this season was kind of rushed and shallow because the end was in sight.)

I am really going to miss this show so much!

Actually, in terms of criticism, too, the thing with Steve's mother kind of came out of the blue. I found it very touching, but I'm not sure it really belonged in the last episode. Maybe its purpose was to show that Miranda has a soft spot, but it still happened very abruptly.

In addition to showing Miranda's soft spot, I think that it served to give insight into her future - for better or worse. The others' storylines gave us a little peak into what's in store for them.

I appreciate a good pun, but it seemed like this last season contained more of them than usual. Last weekend's Saturday Night Live featured a hilarious parody of the show, with the Carrie character annoying her friends with one pun after another (and a surprisingly dead-on impersonation of Samantha by Christina Aguilera).

So we currently have Queer as Folk, The L Word, The Sopranos, and even a show about a family that runs a funeral home. Now there's room for a show like SatC that features four men making their way through life, maybe situated in Chicago or Los Angeles. I can think of a dozen storylines without even breaking a sweat!

We had that already -- it was called Mind of the Married Man. (An excellent show, I might add.)

There's a new parody called straight eye for the queer guy.
I think it's on Comedy central this week. Times says it's ok.

You're referring to "Straight Plan for the Gay Man." It was okay, but not up to the same standards that Comedy Central sets with other shows like Dave Chapelle's and the Daily Show. They could've taken the show much further than they did. (I was switching between SPGM and Average Show, so I probably missed a bit.)

back to sex, I especially liked the character development of Smith Jarod this season. Or maybe its just him.

Smith is in the running for sainthood, wouldn't you say?

He is one gorgeous guy - especially with his short haircut. Wonder what the future holds for that actor in real life?

I thought it was a little strange that Carrie went directly from her relationship with the Russian into Big's arms. Wouldn't she have to get over Aleksander before she could be ready for a relationship again, even with a man she's been with before?

Also, it didn't make sense that she left her laptop behind when she left for Paris. A writer would want to have her laptop with her at all times.

Having said that, I loved the music that was used in the final episode. It was fantastic.

Viva-

That Dave Chappell skit was one of the funniest things I've ever seen on TV.

" What did the hand say to the face ?" BUHAHAHAHAHA!

I agree with WENDYN: I wish they had switched the order of cell phone call and the coffee shop. You are sooo right, I con't have said it better!

I cried during the episode and even during the farewell series that played before the episode....that night I taped the episode for my mom who was out of town, then when I went to check that it taped correctly I cried again...wow I didn't know how much this show meant to me, and most women.

I can't wait to see the movie!

Charlie Murphy on Rick James:

"He is a habitual line crosser!"

One of the all-time best shows I've ever seen.

I actually had stopped watching Sex for a few seasons when I didn't have HBO (which is now a must for DH with Curb and Sopranos but somehow wasn't as important for MY show...). But now I try to catch older shows to see what I missed.

Every time Smith Jarod comes on the screen (no pun intended) DH looks at me as if to say "close your mouth and wipe off your drool". He is FINE.

I keep meaning to start watching Chappell...maybe I will Tivo it. I already Tivo the Daily Show.
