I, too, am a huge Papa Johns fan. E_Roberts: This "group of young males" standing in front of Papa Johns, giving you the "impression they were just going to start trouble," they weren't by chance of a different ethnic background than you are, were they? Did you, in fact, end up getting "robbed or worse"?

It's ok e roberts - as my mama used to say about things I was afraid of (usually some kind of critter) they're more afraid of you than you are of them. Try smiling and wishing them a good evening next time. |

That was me outside of Papa Johns. I was hanging out with Curb, Sbenois and EYESPY. Sorry if we scared you. |

Drove over to Springfield Avenue today to take a look. I was impressed. I walked from Prospect to the post office and back on the other side of the street. I was impressed with the changing and improving stores. I was impressed with the 31 Papa Johns pizza boxes I counted blowing on the sidewalks and streets. |

Go behind Papa Johns and see all the RATS running around. Papa John's pizza taste like crap that's why they have RATs. Stick with Pizza Primo better tasting pizza and Pete is very friendly too. |

On Monday, my husband went out for a quick item at rite aid and nearly got hit not once, but twice...by two different papa john's delivery cars. The first was backing into the rite aid lot (fast and not really looking) as my husband was leaving. The second backed out of the alley and did a u-turn in the middle of SA and sped down Yale St. My husband got a partial plate number for one of the vehicles. When he came home he called the Manager of Papa John's(Manny) and told him of the incidents. Manager was polite but all in all did not give the impression that much action would be taken. My husband expressed his opinion that the reckless driving would kill his business as more and more people would order pizza elsewhere in protest. We support Pizza Primo. (did before papa john's) and will continue. |

With all this negative activity on MOL, why aren't the police watching and ticketing the drivers and litterers? As long as they get away with it, they'll keep doing it. Put a few points on their license, they'll think twice before creating a dangerous situation. |

Not only does the town need to address the RAT problem they need to address Papa John's too. Something has to be done. They need a cop there watching all their illegal moves. |

Joe's Pizza is an oily mess. Papa John's is processed Keebler-like generica. But their moving in did cause people here to alert me to Pizza Primo, which I now frequent because the pizza is delicious. |

How did Papa John's squeak onto the avenue to begin with after such hullabaloo re:KFC? Also, everyone can't wait for Burnett BBQ, but have you ever seen the billowing bbbq smoke coming from the one on Vauxhall? I would not be happy if I were a neighbor. |

Warning: Complete thread drift: FFOF - 15 years ago, I was deposed in a civil case & used the word "hullabaloo". When I received my copy of the transcript, I cracked up, when I saw that the stenographer had interpreted my word as "hubble-bubble". Back on track - has anyone complained to the PJ Corp. HQ? I usually get good results when brushed off by local management on these issues. |

Drfalomar I agree with you Joe's Pizza is very oily and soggy. Pizza Primo's is not and Pete cooks it for you just how you like it. I tried Papa Johns and it taste horrible. Pizza Hut and Domino's taste better. |

cmontyburns- the 'young people' where in fact of my race. i wrote what i did because they were standing there doing nothing, watching me as i went in and out. perhaps you can brush things like this off, however i felt they were threatning, if you didnt feel that way then you werent paying attention to your surroundings. |

e roberts: We have become accustomed to seeing our youth hanging out in the Village in much the same manner you describe in your post. As SA becomes more of a destination, it stands to reason that we will see some of our youth hanging out there too. Two pizza parlors, one across the street from the other, is a pretty good draw for them. |

The issue of smoke has been addressed with the new Burnet BBQ. He has installed a much more effective smoke control system as part of the new kitchen. |

Joes Pizza is oily and soggy? Completely disagree. By far, they have one of the best pizza's in the state. I personally know Pete at Pizza Primo but still believe his pizza is below par. I see that he didn't learn much from working at the Roman Gourmet many years ago. Village Trattoria has a good pie in Maplewood Center. Angelo knows how to make a pie! |

Joan Pizza Primo doesn't draw the same attention that Papa John's does I have never seen the same crowd that hangs in Papa Johns hang in front of Pizza Primo. Papa Johns should have never opened on SFA in the first place. I know what e roberts is talking about because I've seen the samething with those kids hanging out with long t-shirts up to no good. I hate to see where these kids are gonna end up in 2 - 5 years. |

In a town where very few eating establishments stay open late it is natural that Papa John's is going to attract kids to hangout there. Can the hours be controlled? I believe on weekends they stay open to 1am or 2am. |

we don't have a problem with any other eating establishment on the Avenue but Papa John's someone from the township should go in there and talk to them. |

i guess i'm missing something. what exactly are these kids doing? if you were threatened or attacked, why don't you call the police? why is it a crime to hang out at a pizza place? a little fear can really go a long way. |

cmontyburns FYI if your not buying anything and just hanging out in front of a store it doesn't look nice. Besides we want people coming to the Avenue for business not to see kids hanging out up to no good and hanging out in front of a store is called loitering. |

cmontyburns, a group of young people standing in front of a business in the dark at 11 pm at night standing around doing nothing is not a right. it is called loitering. no they did not directly threaten me, but i did not feel safe especially when they stopped their mindless chatter and yelling to all stare at me. no i did not call the police and yea i probally should have. in fact i will start doing it on a regular basis whenever i seem them there so old fashion police harrasment should take care of a group of young people standing around doing nothing especially when they are up to no good. |

e roberts - your definition of "up to no good" certainly differs from mine. They did not verbally harass you. They did not prevent your access to or egress from the store. They were just "hanging out" - not surprising since there is next to nothing for youth to do in our towns. |

e roberts i'm with you do what ever you have to do to keep SA safe I'm with you 100%. If this happened to someone else I'm sure they would be on here saying the samething. If there is nothing to do for our youths why don't these parents keep these kids at home so that way that won't be hanging out in the streets at night. That's why most of these kids that hangout in the streets at night end up in jail. |

CioBella - "If this happened to someone else...." According to e roberts' earlier post "this" happened at 9:30 p.m. and what was "this"? Some kids standing on the sidewalk. I hardly think that most of our youth who are on the sidewalk at 9:30 are doomed to end up in jail. Good Grief! |

Kids hanging in from of the store like that have nothing else to do but get in trouble. Do their parents know what they are doing? Do you know what your kids are doing???? I have kids and I know dam well what they are doing and I know they are not standing in front of a store just hanging out up to no good. |

CioBella - I sometimes go to dinner with my friends and more often than not, we end up continuing our goodbyes on the sidewalk for a length of time - one might say it's mindless chatter, one might even say we are loud... however one would not think we were about to get into trouble. ... see where I'm going here?? My kids are adults - but when they were in high school I tried to create a welcoming environment where they and their friends would be comfortable... my house was full of kids a good bit of the week. But they did, at times, hang out. .. it's a teen thing.. a rite of passage... and teens in our towns have been doing it for years. |
