The Maplewood pool is very nice. The area is maintained well, although the water has, in the seven years we have been members, never been crystal clear. There is always a slight cloudiness to the water. They have a modest amount of Adirondak chairs and straight back chairs that are quite old. You would be better off buying light weight aluminum chairs or chaises that you would need to carry in and out for your own use. There were two shade gazebos that were recently pulled down and replaced with five or six large canvas umbrellas on the far side of the main pool. If you aren't among the early arrivals, you will be closed out of a shady spot, unless you provide your own cover. There is a grass area where you can place your towel if you don't have a chair. They have a large, clean locker room area with decent shower facilities in both the men's and women's locker rooms. They do not provide any towels in either the locker area or at the pool. BYOT. You can bring in any type of food or beverage, but (with the exception of an iced tea at your chaise), all food must be eaten at either the snack tables near the concession stand, or at two larger picnic tables at the grassy area off the main pool deck. They enforce this quite effectively. There is a food stand that serves moderately overpriced sandwiches, burgers, chicken stuff and fries, along with snacks and drinks. The quality of the food service varies since it changes from vendor to vendor based on the contract awarded annually. There is a huge main pool, a separate diving pool with two boards and a tower with three platforms, a kids pool and a baby wading pool. There are a ton of lifeguards, and they seem well trained, and are always attentive. Unless the pool is really empty, they organize an adult swim for twenty minutes at the top of every hour. All kids 16 and under have to leave the main pool. The kids either take a break from swimming, or head over to the diving pool for that period of time. This year, I believe they are going to restrict smoking to either none, or plan on keeping it confined to a small area. That one is still being discussed. If you sign up early, the price is pretty reasonable. The cost to sign up later as the season approaches, gets a bit expensive, especially for a family. Overall, I give it four out of five stars. We have always enjoyed it.
