We are about to drop a chunk of change for a new swing set and I was wondering if any of you in MOL-land have purchased this brand. Was it as high quality and sturdy as it seems? Were you happy with your purchase i.e., to see the joy in the youngin's faces? Thanks for any input out there!

Costco on route 22 has an all cedar playset for sale for $1,000. It has big fort/treehouse on top with a wooden roof, a climbing wall, a sandbox, a slide, two swings, and one of those swingbar things.

Sylad,

Are you referring to the "Children's Expo"? Where did you hear that Cedar Works will be there?

Other than their website, do you know anyone that has one & how they compare to other sets? How are their prices?

I got a mailer from Ceder Works about event this weekend. I check out their site and requested their video a few months back. I looked at a used one last year but it was too big for our yard. I like that their entire product line is splinter and chemical free. For pricing you need to call for a quote, which is a pain.

We have a Cedar Works set. Prices are high but so is the quality. They are probably comparable to a few other top price/quality brands, but it has been over ten years since we did our research, so I can't give you concrete info. One aspect that many people like is that there are no chemical treatments or finishes on the wood, which is white cedar. It can be finished by the customer, if desired, or left to weather naturally. The set is very sturdy and definitely capable of supporting as many kids (and adults) as anyone would ever by likely to "load" on it.

My biggest plug for Cedar Works is their customer service. We recently received replacement parts for our set under the warranty, which was still in effect after nearly ten years of ownership. There was no charge to us (although we had to take care of the installation, which we did ourselves.) Our next door neighbors were researching similar sets at that time and decided on Cedar Works, at least in part due to the service they saw that we received. They also took advantage of the optional installation service and I believe that they were very satisfied with that as well.

If they are at a local expo, then take advantage of the opportunity. Or, via the Cedar Works website, you can obtain referrals to neighbors in the community who have their sets to see them "in action". Perhaps they will send you to us. Or feel free to PL me to stop by sometime and take a look.

Thanks, SAC and everyone else. I think we are going to take the plunge. We live in MA,and there is a Cedar Works about 8 miles away in Holliston, so the kids got to play on the set for a while. When I saw them with red sweaty faces, I thought this might be the one! As usual, Molers come to the rescue!!! Thanks again. PS, we just moved from MW. boo hoo

We purchased the Boulder set from Creative Playthings, and couldn't be happier.

http://www.creativeplaythings.com/boulder.php

The sets are on sale (50% off) and delivery and set up are included. I looked at CedarWorks and others extensively, and we went with the Creative set because a) it fit into our space, b) there is a great guarantee and c) the price and delivery and set up issues.
