If you're in South Orange, there are all sorts of rules (perhaps they're the same for Maplewood). Orange applied only to corner properties (because the line of vision for drivers could be impaired). It would seem unreasonable to make other properties,especially those with small dimentions, "cut" 30 feet off their yard (the back & two sides) before installing a fence.
