I am considering installing a water softener in my house and would like to hear from others about the results they have experienced. Also, I have heard that some companies rent the units, change the salt, etc., and would appreciate hearing from anyone who has used those services (how much do they charge, have you been satisfied with the service, etc.) Thank You! |

You are much, much, much better of buying and installing a unit, rather than the rental units. Sears sells the best systems. They often have a high end unit on sale. Sears also sells a water sample kit, where you mail a water sample to a lab and get a quality report. That information will tell you if you need one and how much load it will have to carry. Testing is the first step. And, while I have installed several in this town for people, I question the need. Maplewood water is not hard. I grew up in California. Now out there you could get some pretty hard water. But, this is a personal decision for you. If you think you need one the install one. Just get the actual water reading before so you buy the correct size. NJ water will also give you a report for free. Later, George Never be afraid to try something new. Remember, amateurs built the ark; professionals built the Titanic.
