Does anyone know whether the BOE members, officials on the Board of School Estimate, and the Township Committee and Village Trustees members have email addresses for offical purposes? If so, could you pot them please? Thanks. |

Here's the easy one: you contact members of the Board of Ed by writing to Dr. H's secretary and asking her to forward the emails to the BOE members. Her address is: ssomer@somsd.k12.nj.us. I just spent 10 minutes searching on SO Village web page for how to email Village Trustees without success. I suppose you could email our CFO/Business Administrator and ask him to forward them on: jgross@southorange.org. As the name says, I'm a SO resident; so someone else will have to provide up Township info. No info on school district website that I found on how to contact the BSE members. It would be nice if all this was easily accessible. |

As posted previously in the South Orange Specific thread, here are the S.O. Borad of Trustees email addresses. I agree they should be on the S.O. website, but they are not. William R. Calabrese wcfuzzy@aol.com Patrick Joyce pjoyce13@juno.com Dr. Allan J. Rosen ajosrosen@aol.com Arthur Taylor arthur@mec.cuny.edu Mark Rosner markrosner@earthlink.net Mary Theroux mmtheroux@aol.com Steven Steglitz sasteglitz@aol.com |

I'd beware of posting these emails without permission. Public officials get overwhelmed -- remember, they do this for free. Certainly one should not post private email messages for BOE members without their consent. Still, be aware that any communications through the Board office can certainly be read by the administration (and maybe used against you?). |

I tried to send an email to the Superintendent's secretary today and received the following bounce response: --- The message cannot be delivered to the following addresses. --- ssomer@somsd.k12.nj.us Mailbox unknown or not accepting mail. User cannot accept mail. Does anyone know why or have an alternate email address for communications to the BOE/BoSE? I would prefer not to impose on the private email addresses and I don't know most of them anyway. |

I may have found the answer to my own question. A PTA communication listed the address as ssommer@somsd.k12.nj.us and email to that address has not been returned. |

Hello everyone and thanks for your input so far! If you send an email to the ssommer address, it will get to the BOE members. I sent one on Friday and have received 2 reponses from BOE members thus far (which to me indicates both that they receive the emails and also that many of them may choose not to respond to them). I called the Maplewood Township offices and the township committeee people do not have email addtresses, so I guess South ORange is ahead of the curve there. Many thanks to one and all for your help. If anyone has a Board of School Estimate-specific mailing list, that would be really great. |

sac - glad you realized that Ms. Sommer's name is spelled with two m's. (also glad the first mail bounced back and was not received by another employee who may happened to be an "S. Somer") |

I still find it "unusual," to say the least, that mail to BOE members is being filtered through the superintendent's secretary. SouthOrangeMom |
