Buncher's on Millburn Ave. and I'm with Argon - we need more coffeeshops? Make your own jo, it's cheaper. Besides, It would put the train station lady right out of business. |

I think Maple Pharmacy gave his key making machine to the pet store -- they now make keys. I really like the pet store dude, he's is one of the nicest guys around. |

That's good news on the keys, and it's always good to have another excuse to go into the pet store. |

My son and I were in the pet store recently and son was really wanting a bunny, not being bad or whining -- just wanting a damn rabbit. The pet store man kindly told him that unfortunately those rabbits weren't for sale. I thought that was one of the nicest coolest things a store owner's ever done. Coming home with a bunny rabbit just wasn't an option. |

I'm not sure if she actually has a shop - you can get one of her cards at the pet store. She did my friend's daughter's wedding last year and the flowers were amazingly beautiful and creative. |

I don't often by coffee someone else made, either, but I see there's Cafe Sage, which I hear is pretty nice, and it looks it. Starbucks would probably knock them out of business, and that would be a shame. The little guys have a hard time competing with the big guys, and it isn't always because they don't do as good a job. We certainly DO NOT need another coffee place. Another bookstore maybe or a cute woman's clothing shop? I heard that Cornercopia is closing. What's going in the toy store place? |

For the person looking for the shampoo and other stuff, check the NYT's recent article at http://www.nytimes.com/2004/03/04/technology/circuits/04shop.html, entitled "In Search of the One True Lipstick". It lists some sources for discontinued cosmetics. |

Kokoro, the store within the Artistic Swan, is taking over the Swan's entire space. I've found nice stuff there...and am glad it'll be open full time instead of just weekends. |

Sge Cafe is a joke - I went in recently and asked for a latte - they have one of those machines where you push a button and out pops some sort of instant pretend coffee drink. I can't see how it will last. |

The owners at cafe sage are very nice; but I took my kids there for cookies; eight dollars later I couldn't believe it. Whatever happened to cookies by the pound? |

cookies by the pound? brings back memories of high school days in the early 70s -- almost every Saturday, used to go to william greenberg jr. bakery on 8th street in greenwich village, get a pound of the most incredible (and expensive) assorted butter cookies, and my friends and I would walk around the village eating them. used to bring back a honeybun for my wonderful mom, god rest her soul. thanks for the memory, gemini...

I went to Maple Pharmacy once when i first moved here. I needed tampons, and they charged me like $80 for a box of 40 that looked like it had been on the shelf for a decade. I'm not really sad that it's gone. I'm not a Starbucks fan either, but at least it would be more fun than a Remax. |

I long for a fresh delicious bread place.....or a family restaurant that isn't Italian or diner. |

I think a great butcher would do well in the village, as a complement to Freemans. Maybe split the space with an Italian deli like a Vito's from Hoboken, for some wet mozzarella, bread for prodworks, and sandwiches. |

Yes, a good Italian bakery would be great for this town! Fresh bread, pastry, and desserts...Mmmmm! I would take another coffe shop over another nail, hair or realtor! |

I don't think Cafe Sage makes any of the baked goods there - they're all imported.... |

I dream of a Freeman's spin-off butcher shop (think Citarella's in NYC and their meat shop) for Maplewood village. I have also written to the Metropolitan Bakery out of Pennslyvania and suggested that they expand to New Jersey beginning with Maplewood village. They have unbelievable artisan breads and great muffins, scones, brioche etc. We need more really good food for commuters and moms w/kids! Why didn't Pen & Jen take over the little shop next to the train tracks? That's the ideal location for a coffee shop. I don't see how the Chelsea Set thinks that a hair salon is the appropriate business for that space. |
