We're taking our son into the city tomorrow for a show (Blue Man Group) and dinner for his birthday. He's a lobster fanatic - any suggestions for a good restaurant? Thanks.

Aquagrill is my favorite seafood restaurant but Docks steams a great lobster. Pearl Oyster Bar, Mary's Fish Camp are casual and fun.

I have always recommended the Blue Water Grill in Union Square. It should be walking distance to the Blue Man Group. It has a nice atmosphere and is relatively inexpensive. Regular entrees are about $20. It has a Jazz room downstairs and regular dining upstairs. I believe Zagats rates it as one of NYC's most popular restaurants (if that means anything to you.) On weekends you should call for reservations.

The Oyster Bar in Grand Central at 42nd and Lexington. You can walk uptown from the theater. Also the Blue Man Group is a terrific show. Have fun!

For lobster, City Crab & Lobster http://www.citylobster.com/ is a wonderful midtown restaurant. You can usually get great lobster at any good steakhouse as well.

But the best lobster dish I've ever had was at a place called F. Illi Ponte downtown-- it's called "Angry Lobster" Aragosta All’Arrabbiata A.K.A. “Angry Lobster” house specialty made with garlic basil crushed red pepper flakes and sautéed broccoli rabe.

Enjoy!

Thanks for all the great advice. We ended up at Blue Water Grill (thanks, Clueless), which I highly recommend. It got off to a slow start, as we had 5:00 dinner reservations, and the restaurant was transitioning from brunch to dinner. But once we connected with the waiter, the service was excellent. The food was quite wonderful, too - my son had his lobster, I had the salmon, husband had grilled shrimp and scallops, and our oddball older son had filet mignon. We also had the BEST calamari we've ever had. All in all, a great success.

P.S. We loved the Blue Man Group, too.

I'm glad you liked the restaurant. Next time I will try the calamari. Makes me hungry just thinking about it...

I've also been meaning to see the Blue Man Group myself. Sounds like a great show.
