I've managed to persuade my husband to take a week's vacation when the schools are on Spring Break.

I'd appreciate some ideas on where we could go (2 scenarios eg. flying or driving). We have a 15 year old son who is not at all interested in lazing around on a beach, hates art galleries and museums, doesn't want to go to a dude ranch and his only interest is participating in or/and watching sports events. The opposite of his mother! We're not keen on going to Europe for a week because of the jet-lag and as we're Brits we will probably go there in the Summer... plus since we're resident in the States we might as well discover new places.

We're happy to fly (maybe even using Continental One Pass miles)but if we can't arrange adequte care for our crazy dog (size of a labrador) we will have to have a road trip instead and take him with us...

Any suggestions are most welcome!

Go out west (UT or CO) and Ski/Snowboard.
Go to HI and Surf/dive/snorkel/hike/bike
Go to AZ and play golf and hike and bike
Go on a cruise

Hal Wheelers in Cedar Grove can board the dog.

Brett - what is "Spring Training"? Is there a website where I can get information? It sounds like the sort of thing my son would be interested in.

Thank you.

(My problem with the dog is that he was from a rescue center. The last time we boarded him he freaked out and had to be tranquilized, he has terrible seperation anxiety. He is very distrustful of strangers so we have had friends whom he knows, come to feed him at home whilst we've been away. Unfortunately during Spring Break we might not be able to have friends helping out, so we could end up taking him with us (hence a road trip....). It's a pain in the neck...

The Yankees play preseason games this time of year in Tampa Bay at Legends Field. Tickets for games are $12-$18. You go early and watch Batting practice and so on. There are a lot of baseball related events. You can usually see at least 3 games in a week.

If he doesn’t like the Yankees tons of teams are in training.

Once you get him to Florida there is lots of stuff for the adults to do, just check out the local tourism websites.

I went one year with my dad in and RV (with the dog). 10 games in 10 days.

That is what I miss most about Arizona. My husband and I had season tickets to the Colorado Rockies, and would go to a baseball game every day!

spring training during spring break????
the season will have already begun !!

San Diego is a great town, lots to do. Maybe the Padres will be at home.

Drive to Toronto. Visit the Hockey Hall of Fame, and maybe the Blue Jays will be at home. Very cool city.
