Jackie Farry, while on tour with The Datsuns in mid-2003, was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, yet another pernicious kind of cancer. An artist without health insurance coverage, Jackie is putting together a raffle to help raise money that will go towards her treatment and care. Who is Jackie Farry and why should I donate my hard-earned 12 bucks to her raffle? SImple, you will be helping a good person who needs help right now for the price of a few cups of joe . Jackie is a 37 year old warm, funny, intelligent woman. In terms of her career, she has spent most of her working life helping others, from being Frances Bean Love Cobain's (Kurt&Courtney's baby) first nanny, to hosting her own show on MTV where she interviewed all sorts of bands, to being a tour manager for every hipster rock band in the world you can think of. She is considered one of the hardest working people in her field, and is well and truly beloved. Many of the prizes donated in the raffle contest have been donated by these talented musicians who have had the pleasure of working with Jackie. Jackie has been more than a tour manager however; first and foremost, she has been a friend. I appeal to you to do what you can to help her out. Forward this to your friends, and take a look at her web site. I know you are busy, but this isn't about a hectic schedule, I suppose doing a rafffle is a true community effort, even when you do not know the person personally. You can check out all the details of the raffle on her site: http://www.jackiefarry.com Prizes have been donated by (among others): Beastie Boys, Sloan, The Go Go's Redd Kross Matador Records, Blues Explosion, The Datsuns, Quasi, Sleater Kinney, Arista Records, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Quintron, Miss Pussycat etc and so on The list of prizes keeps growing daily. The girl is loved. I've got my tickets, please check out her website and get yours too. |
