Given Grandma's 60th approaching, my husband and I are looking to rent a summer home for a long weekend or week in August to bring our family together for a vacation. There are 4 couples and 5 grandchildren under 5- so it would need to be at least 5 bedrooms or potentially two villa type of arrangements. Does anyone have a home that they are looking to rent or suggestions? It can be the NJ Shore, Hamptons, Nantucket, etc.... A casual beach setting is what we are looking for.... |

Sorry that this post is not about exactly what you were looking for, but this place is very nice for family get-togethers. The food is good, not gourmet, but we had a very good time there. http://www.woodloch.com/resort/index.php |

We've stayed at a place called Hartman's Briny Breezes in Montauk that I think is great for family gatherings. They have studios and one bedroom apartments that are huge and shared balconies with a great view. We like it because we can put the kids to bed and then hang out with other grown-ups on the balcony. Everyone has their own private space, but enough togetherness. It's not fancy, but it is expensive during the summer. They have a pool, and Montauk is just beautiful. It's also really far away, however. They have a website. We also go to Avalon/Stone Harbor every year with family. Personally, my favorite is the Outer Banks, but that's probably too far for you. Whatever you do, I'd reserve it as soon as possible--this is when places fill up for the summer. Good luck! |

Try the Outer Banks in NC; yes a long drive, but prices are 30-60% cheaper than relative properties in NY, NJ, or Cape Cod. You can easily rent houses that sleep more than 20. WWW.twiddy.com or www.resortrealty.com |

Niners: Although it is a bit late to find OuterBanks rentals, I second the location. We deal with Twiddy.. they have great properties. |
